Hands-on Approach

She takes a sensitive approach to challenges such as food insecurity and strives to deliver individualized nutrition care to each of her clients. She also has experience leading groups focused on nutrition and cultivating a healthy relationship with food. She particularly enjoys helping others put their knowledge into practice through “hands-on” activities like cooking classes, grocery store tours and meal/snack support. As Lynae does, she also takes most insurances.

Sharing Her Passion

Tessa strives to help individuals cultivate a healthy relationship with food through balance and intuitive eating. Whether this is to overcome an eating disorder, binge eating, or to have a healthier relationship with food, Tessa is passionate about sharing her knowledge and support with clients. She works with clients to promote positive behavior change and guides to help them overcome any challenges along the way. She utilizes a Health at Every Size®, weight-inclusive, and non-diet approach in her nutrition counseling that considers all aspects of health. Tessa aims to help others establish healthy eating patterns by exploring balance and flexibility with a variety of foods.

In her free time, Tessa enjoys partner dancing, running, volunteering, listening and playing music, cooking, and learning new things! A self-proclaimed foodie, she loves being able to explore new places by tasting local cuisines. She particularly enjoys a warm cup of tea or coffee and is never without her supply of peanut butter.

Tessa’s Self-Care

When asked about her self-care practices, this is what Tessa said:

For me, self-care has been essential for allowing me to support my clients in these brave spaces we create in session. One important lesson, I learned the hard way, is that I need to prioritize self-care and I have discovered ways that work for me.

  • First, I make sure to schedule regular date nights with my partner, which helps me feel connected and centered.
  • Another way I find comfort is in delicious and satisfying food as well as warm beverages (like tea or coffee), whether it’s part of a familiar meal or a new dish that I haven’t tried yet.
  • Additionally, I have always found being surrounded by nature to be very therapeutic, so I enjoy going for walks or runs outside when the weather is cooperative.
  • Essential oils are a new source of enjoyment for me, so I’ve started to incorporate them into my evening wind-down routine.
  • Finally, I’ve begun playing the card game “Magic: The Gathering” and have found that playing online and in-person helps to reduce my stress and it’s a lot of fun!
